The Performing Arts Center and Field House unifies and expands the existing student programs, enhancing the overall educational experience for the students. From the exterior, the the dynamic form and long roof extensions provide a focal point for entry to the rear of the campus. Within the Performing Arts Center, there is a new 400-seat theater which provides the students with a first-class stage equipped with fly loft, orchestra pit, professional lighting and audio-visual equipment.
A glass-encased atrium serves double function as lobby and concession area for the theater and gymnasium. The field house accommodates a competition-size basketball court with seating for 1000 spectators. Additionally, there is enough room for two full-sized cross-courts and a practice mezzanine.
The building was designed to maximize daylighting in the gymnasium, provide optimum acoustics for the Arts Center, and minimize heat gain and loss through the use of a tight building shell and high-performance glazing.
