Located on a 1 acre wooded, sloping lot, this contemporary design
blends in with the traditional style of the neighborhood as mandated
by the local board. Reached by a meandering drive, the house is
set back toward the rear of the site for privacy and views. The
two wings curve inward to form a welcoming front courtyard. Connecting
these wings are the public rooms, which look out to a pine grove.
An elevated deck in the back extends as a bridge to the trees. Durable
materials such as cedar shingles and limestone were chosen to complement
the surroundings. Stained glass, light fixtures, cabinetry and millwork
completed by artisans result in a warm, sheltering interior. Well-insulated
roof and walls, energy-efficient windows and high efficiency HVAC
systems ensure comfort.
