This vacation home is located in southern Indiana on the shore of
a placid lake. The spaces inside the home were designed to be open
and flexible. Service spaces such as kitchen and bathrooms are oriented
on the perimeter, allowing the main living spaces to be in the middle
of the home where it is most natural for people to gather. Expanses
of glass encircle the majority of the downstairs area, bringing
in light, warmth, and enjoyable views. The garage is buried into
a landscaped hill, reducing runoff and furthering the goal of stormwater
management. Translucent roofs throughout the house filter natural
light into the interior spaces. The home is heated and cooled by
harnessing energy extracted from the lake.
