Owner: Village of Villa Park
Location: Villa Park, IL

Square Footage: 18,500

Aided by an Illinois Clean Energy grant, this landmark LEED certified police station will be the first new construction of its kind in Illinois. It will serve as a model for other communities, displaying benefits of environmentally sensitive strategies. Featuring a vegetated roof, native landscaping and bioswales, it will manage stormwater onsite and reduce heat islands. Building materials will be high in recycled content and from local sources. Daylighting will be maximized through building orientation. The use of a heat recovery unit will enhance ventilation and increase efficiency of the HVAC system. Photovoltaic panels and wind turbines are being considered, encouraging the use of renewable energy.
