North Island Center

Owner: City of Aurora
Location: Aurora, IL

Square Footage: 200,000
Completiopn Date: 1982

The Center overlooks the Fox River in downtown Aurora. Originally designed as a municipal civic center, the Civic Center Authority then converted it into public use. The facility includes a 50,000 sf office building, 220-seat theater, restaurant, banquet-meeting center and 300-car parking structure. The complex's focal point is the atrium with a grand staircase, which serves as an office entrance by day and a dramatic theater lobby by night. The site has been developed as an urban park to create a sense of unity with the adjacent Art Deco Paramount Theater, the new complex and the Fox River.
