Facing south, a 12-foot high wall of high-performance windows with interior light shelves acts to maximize daylighting without glare or heat. With daylighting, electrical lighting and cooling costs can be reduced while increasing amenity. The tight building shell construction combined with heat recovery ventilation further advances the goal of energy efficiency. The spaces in the Village Hall are flexible and open to myriad outdoor views. All stormwater remains onsite, in part managed by the native landscaping. The prairie plants are coupled with walking trails and pond to develop an enjoyable environment for both the community and the employees.
