Because of Aurora’s position as the western anchor of the
I-88 research corridor, there has been an increase in population
over the past decade, leading to a demand for economical, dependable,
quality water. This facility is capable of producing 28 million
gallons of water per day. The city’s future growth was taken
into consideration at the time of design. The facility may expand
its capacity to 42 million gallons of water per day, ensuring the
city’s ability to continue meeting its citizens’ demand
for water. The water is drawn from the Fox River, and then it is
filtered, purified, clarified, softened and treated with fluoride
at the facility.
