This is one of the initial projects included
in the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED Existing Building Pilot
Project which focuses on the adaptation of the LEED system for buildings
undergoing additions or renovations. This project remodeled the
second floor of the police headquarters. The rehabilitated space
has new offices and workstations for detectives and administrative
personnel. All mechanical, lighting and plumbing systems were upgraded.
Environmental features include doors certified by the Forest Stewardship
Council, task/ambient lighting for low lighting power densities,
low environmental impact housekeeping, and recycled content materials
including recycled airplane-glass tiles and 100% recycled gypsum
board. This project is expected to yield LEED EB certification.
