This environmentally responsible office/research building resulted
from the adaptive reuse of an existing warehouse. Sunlight streams
through high performance windows at the perimeter and new clerestory
windows. Shading devices and light shelves prevent unwanted glare.
For optimal efficiency, daylighting works in conjunction with indirect
electrical lighting, controlled by motion and occupancy sensors.
Low velocity HVAC with energy recovery and a computerized management
system work with an advanced thermal envelope to reduce utility
costs. Native plants were selected to landscape the site, reducing
maintenance, fertilization and irrigation.
