Planned for a bank whose mission statement is one that "invests in people and their communities to create economic equity and a healthy environment," this prototype for a branch bank to be constructed on the south side of Chicago was charged with embodying those values. With that in mind, every step in the decision-making process considered both economic and environmental responsibility to the community. The result is a building that is efficient with energy and resources while also creating a work environment that is inspiring and healthy. The design also addresses the need for a prototype to be appropriate for different sites. The circular configuration adapts easily to diffent sun orientations. It also provides the bank with a unique and easily identified form.
