This renovation of office space for the Northern Illinois Planning Commission in the Sears Tower focussed on environmental stewardship. This included: careful planning to reuse almost 70% of the existing build-out including carpet tiles, ceiling tiles, lighting, doors and door hardware; new materials that included decorative panels of renewable wheatboard and countertops with recycled aluminum cans; a recycling program the diverted almost 97% of construction debris from landfills to recycling centers. The result, as can be seen, is the rather striking imagery telling just that story.
